The meaning of music to me...

MUSIC

A mixture of sound and silence
Artistic release in time, the essence
Alluring beauty avowedly deliveredAt best,
music is simply divine!
Good music moves our hearts
Great music cleanses our minds
Grand music uplifts our spirits
Gracious music indeed excels
Mundane worries consigned away
Music keeps the masses enthralled
Mystic saints’ melodious music
Mesmerized even the Gods!
Mellowed cow milks more & more
Music to ears turns it a philanthropist
Music therapy to the miserable
Manifests in salvation- a revelation
Melody transforming the audience
Music equates earth with heaven
Mesmerized souls with moist eyes
Muse over the theme time and again
Music can bring about rain
Music can unshackle the mind
Music can well alleviate pain
Music is simply divine

What does music mean to you???

Well have you ever wondered the history of the"Walkman", "Pressman", "Watchman", "Scoopman", "Discman", and "Talkman" which are trademarks of Sony then how walkman the emerged to be Walkman-branded telephones W300, W710, W850i, so that now we have a combination of a cell phone which can receive phone calls, send sms, and take photo’s at the same time have a music player with all our favorite music lists.
Lets go down memory lane and see where it all started.
This is where Sony walkman came from:
In 1972 the genius German-Brazilian Andreas Pavel invented the first portable personal stereo audio cassette player, called Stereo belt,

In 1979: TPS-L2 went on sale in Japan it consisted of stereo playback and two mini headphone jacks, the Walkman had a "hotline" button which activated a small built-in microphone, allowing one user to talk to the other over the music.

In 1984: The highest quality Sony Walkman recording cassette deck was the Walkman Professional WM-D6C it had bright LED recording level meters and manual control of recording levels. Was widely used by journalists.

In 1984: The first CD based Walkman was initially launched the D-50 (D-5 in some markets). It was officially called the 'Discman

In 1990: The cassette-based Walkman was generally passed over in favor of the emerging digital technologies of CD, DAT and MiniDisc.

Sony continued making CD Walkmans — the newer models are capable of playing ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, and MP3 CDs, and have become progressively thinner and more compact with each revision.
In 2003: The NW-MS70D was released as Sony's first hit at the MP3 player industry.

But Sony was continuously competing with I pod who was leading with their music walkmans (I pods). So accepting that they have been defeated Sony´s last attempt to revive the walkman brand included a variety of music-centered mobile phones marketed under the Sony Ericson brand.

The first being the W800 and W550/W600 have numerous audio capabilities including play lists, audio equalization, support for the M4A audio file format, and the ability to operate only as music player, with the telephony electronics switched off. It also includes standard mobile phone features, such as a 2 megapixel auto-focus camera. The W550/W600 had 256 MB of internal memory,

while the W800 includes a 512 MB Memory Stick.
The popularity of Walkman-branded telephones indicates that the portable audio and mobile telephone markets have converged. Walkman phones since the launch in September 2005. Sony Ericsson is seen to have had the most success with converging music and mobile phones, largely attributed to the man by the name of Andreas Pavel with the Walkman heritage and expertise from Sony.

The Road To Stardom

Hey? Hello? Hi?
Don’t you think it is interesting how anyone can become a multi million making music artist these days? Like you whatch television and every hour there is some new artist’s music video being played on DSTV. Here I thought I was on top of my game, that I was on top of the music industry but it is moving to fast for me, I am shy to admit. Nowadays all you need is exposure right? That’s why I decided to explore this craze they call Youtube.

For all of you who do not know what You Tube is: Well
YouTube started February 15, 2005, was founded by Chad Hurley, and Steve Chen.

Who were both early employees of
PayPal. The site was purchased one year later by Google for over one and a half billion dollars. During that time the website amazed over twenty million users, mostly teens and young adults. Two million videos are added to YouTube's stock of 100 million videos every month. While much of the content consists of original amateur home video, many advertisers and media producers are now providing professional content. Media giants:
CBS,
Warner MG, EMI Group, Universal MG, and Sony BMG have all agreed to either provide content to YouTube, or to license their respective copyrighted material for use in independent videos released on the site. YouTube has also become a means of promoting bands and their music. One such example is OK Go which got a huge radio hit and an MTV Video Music Awards performance out of the treadmill video for Here It Goes Again. Singer-songwriter Tay Zonday's video of "Chocolate Rain" had such play that it led to a music video promoting a Dr Pepper product. YouTube has consistently proved itself as a great platform for aspiring artists noticed by its millions of users and helping change peoples lives for good. For example Jessica Rose all she started off imitating famous artists, when she performed her own music she was an instant hit on Youtube and has since appeared on idols Dutch TV shows like Life & Cooking and Jenssen. More recently she has actually had the chance to perform with

Justin Timberlake and has been signed by Tennman records.
Just like that and it all stared with her having fun with digital technology. Imagine just by exposing yourself on a website and if you good you can become a leading artist before you know it.

so for all those aspiring artists here’s the way to go lol.

Memory Card

Memory card

Memory card or flash memory card is a solid-state electronic
flash memory data storage device used with digital cameras, handheld and Mobile computers, telephones, music players, video game consoles, and other electronics. They offer high re-record-ability, power-free storage, small form factor, and rugged environmental specifications. There are also non-solid-state memory cards that do not use flash memory, and there are different types of flash memory.
There are many different types of memory cards and jobs they are used for. Some common places include in digital cameras, in game consoles, in cell phones, and in industrial applications. Reason I am informing you about them is it is an excellent music storage device as you know by now I am a huge music fan. I have a cell phone which on its internal memory can only store 3 songs and nothing more. How boring so what is the point of having a phone with a mp3 player that will only play 3 songs. That is the marketing gimmick; advertisers advertise this phone with a mp3 player but do not warn you that you need something called a memory card. It could either be SD card, micro SD, or Mini SD. It could come in five sizes 128MG, 512MG, 1G, 2G, or 4G. But you have to be very causes with the size you take for your phone as the bigger the card it has to be compatible with your cell phone as it could slow your whole cell phone down. I have a 2G in my phone and at the moment I have 250 songs so all day long I can listen to all my favorite tracks.

Hip hop music is consistently attacked... some argue it demeans women, others say it promotes drugs or violence, or both. On the flip side, there are plenty of people who defend hip hop, and counter that it's an authentic expression of black culture.
But is this true if you have listened to what is played now and the messages they do not have a meaning. If I stood on a street corner and attempted to sell you crack, pimp you a ho, or pulled a gun on you, are you going to call me an artist?
99% of rap is crap!

Yes the style, format and presentation can be considered an art form, but you can't categorize most all of its vile nonsense as art. Are you kidding me? If I published the lyrics of rap music into a book, would you let your child read that book? Would you let your schools teach it? You would be marching on the streets in protest! At least I hope you would. @

But most of these hip hop artists are from the states and our society just take it all in, try copy their life style and grow attitudes like them. But the messages they send are not constructive and do not help the youth of our nation.
I am a huge Hip Hop fan, but the mainstream rap trend when you listen to the lyrics does not seem to SAY anything. For example Ushers new song:
LOVE IN THIS CLUB

Doin’ it on purpose winding and workin’ itI can tell by the way you lookin’ at me girlI wanna make love in this club(make love in this club, in this club, in this club)I wanna make love in this club(in this club, in this club, in this club)You got some friends rollin’ wit you baby then that's coolYou can leave them with my niggas let em know that I got youIf you didn’t know, you’re the only thing that’s on my mindCuz the way I'm staring miss you got me wantin to give it to you all night
I wanna make love (in this club in this club, in this club)I wanna make love (in this club in this club, in this club)I wanna make love (in this club, in this club, in this club)I wanna make love in this club (in this club, in this club)I’m what you want, I’m what you needHe got you trapped, I’ll set you freeSexually, mentally, physically, emotionallyI’ll be like your medicine, you’ll take every dose of meIt’s going down on aisle 3, I’ll bag you like some groceriesAnd every time you think about it you gon’ want some more of meAbout to hit the club, make a movie yeah rated RPulled up like a trap star,That's if you have yo regular carYou wanna make love to a thug in the club with his Sice on87 jeans and a fresh pair of Nikes onOn the couch, on the table, on the bar, or on the floorYou can meet me in the bathroom yeah you know I’m trying goTonight it's ...If we keep touching like thisI know you scaredThey don't know what we doin...Keep it up girl I swearI'ma give it to you none stopAnd I don't care who's watchin
Or even soldier boy
he is the new young craze but the inner message he is sending in his song is vulgar and it is a huge hit, everybody is doing the soldier boy. But not all artists, but most of the new one's I’ve seen only talk about the same cliché topics (drugs, pimping, gangs, bling bling big cars etc.).
When compared to the underground artists it seems like "rap" (vs. the broader Hip Hop) has been hijacked by the upper echelons of the media in order to reinforce the stereotypes that have been keeping minorities in poverty. It is pathetic nothing constructive is being sent out their.
It is fed by a consumer market that wants to see or hear a particular image or lifestyle portrayed. These raps "artists" are given a voice simply because of the number of units they can move in the record industry. Their message is the last consideration when a record company publishes/presses a record.

This is obvious because if there were any ethical considerations before such records are produced, something might be paid to what is being promoted: lifestyles, which themselves promote themes that are racist, sexist, and promote a drug culture.

What the future holds

As the world moves more and more towards a digital convergence of products, I am assuming hat the simple cell phone will be more than just a phone. Talking and communicating will probably be the very last thing that people will want to use their cell phones for. Already some people use their cell phones just to play games or to play music. A friend of mine has two phones, one he uses for making and receiving calls and SMSs and the other he uses to download music and videos and nothing else. I am sure a phone that allows you to do everything a phone can do at once, without having to recharge the battery every hour is on its way. This brings me to the main point of my discussion, the future of the cell phone and what expectations are there for the cell phone industry. There are a lot of things that cell phones may still be able to do, other than what most of them can already do now. Just imagine having a television installed on your phone…where you can watch as many programmes and channels as you like, like DSTV; music that will go beyond ringtones. Yes, now you get phones that have FM radio but imagine being able to download a song to your phone from the radio while it is playing, or rather being able to view the artist’s profile and photos while the song is playing on your phone. It would also be interesting to have camera phones that have very high resolutions, I’m talking 10 megapixels and above and also the exact image processing capabilities found on digital and video cameras. All these inventions and functions of cell phones are not just a fantasy, I assure you- in the next ten years they will be available and maybe even more-the sky is the limit.

EMR

About two years ago, someone told me about how cell phones can damage your brain cells. To be honest, I did not pay much attention to that because I just did not believe it and I had never heard of it, I couldn’t even understand how it would happen-until just recently. I had bought a Cosmopolitan (my second bible) and just near the middle page there was an article on the dangers and health hazards of cell phones. I knew only then that it was real and pretty serious-hence it was on Cosmo. Electro Magnetic Radiation is something that is produced by electrical appliances-the most common and familiar would be the microwave. Surprisingly (well, to me), cell phones also give out EMR. Many cell phones are sold each and every day and there are about a billion cell phone users in the world. As the number of cell phones increase rapidly, also more people should be concerned about effects that regular exposure to EMR can have on their health. Studies have shown that regular exposure to EMR is a serious health threat. Another damage that cell phones can cause to human beings is using it while driving. So many accidents have occurred as a result of talking on the phone while driving. People usually have the thought that “it would never happen to them” and that they can mange to talk on their phones while driving and controlling the steering wheel. I’m sure most people are able to do it but it is the dangers of doing it that should be considered. A person is easily distracted when they talk on the phone and tend to focus more on the ‘conversation’ rather than the road which is what leads to accidents. This is why talking on the phone while driving has been banned by the law in South Africa and if you give it some thought, it is actually as bad as drinking and driving.
